Our Services

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are providing e-counselling via Zoom from Monday to Saturday.

Clients must be familiar with Zoom function before proceeding with the booking.

Who We Are

Our Community of Paracounsellors (CPC) was started in 2006 under Catholic Family Life (formerly known as Family Life Society) to provide pro-bono counselling services to anyone who requires support. Our volunteers include Hotline Support members and para-counsellors with formal counselling training and are ready to provide a listening ear.

FAQ

Are the counsellors trained and if so, what type of training have they attended?

All our counsellors are trained to provide support and care for all clients. They also receive monthly supervision to ensure that all clients receive the best care possible. In terms of specific training, you may want to directly ask the counsellor when you meet him/her.

How long was the training?

Our paracounsellors attend many different trainings. They received a formal education & training in Counselling from various educational institutes and attend continual training to sharpen their skills.

Are you assigning me to a counsellor who has handled my type of issue before?

All our paracounsellors are trained to handle a variety of issues. The goal is to ensure that you have the best support possible. If the presenting issue is not within the area of your counsellor’s expertise, he/she will be able to provide recommendations or referral for you.

What is the difference between counsellors in private practice and the counsellors at CPC?

Our paracounsellors are volunteers of Catholic Family Life. There are no charges for the services, but donation to Catholic Family Life will be appreciated.

While private practices are likely to offer more flexibility for booking, our counsellors are only available on specific dates/timing based on their roster.

What else about the counsellor can you share with me?

Our counsellors are there to provide support for you and therefore the focus will be on you. Please feel free to raise your concerns to the counsellor during your session.

What is the difference between seeing a PC at the parish and a therapist in CFL Highland Road?

CPC is a community of paracounsellors who volunteer at 13 locations in Singapore and, during this time, providing e-counselling. Their availability is limited to certain days.

Our therapists at CFL provide counselling services at Highland Road. They offer more flexible appointments, including counselling on weekdays and Saturdays. The cost is $75 for day time and $90 for evenings.
